Medicare Annual Election Period October 15 - December 7

Medicare Open Enrollment

It’s that time of year again.  The 2016 Medicare Annual Election Period, aka Open Enrollment begins October 15 and runs until December 7.  This is the time of year to make changes to your Medicare Advantage or Medicare Prescription Drug insurance plans.  Medicare is available to people age 65 or older and certain people receiving social security disability insurance.

Like prior years there will be many changes in 2016.  Plan designs, copays and formularies have changed, as well as premiums and benefits.  Many doctors have changed which plans they will and will not accept.  So now is a good time to review your coverage.

Have you been to my website?    You have the ability to shop and compare plans on my site.  Please take a test drive; I think you will like it. ALLSTARFinancialInsurance.com

Once on the site, look on the top menu bar you will see section titled Senior Solutions.  There you will find information regarding Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part “D” Prescription Drug Plans.  Request a no-obligation Medicare Report that compares plan choices and rates.

In 2016 I will be able to help you with the following companies offering Medicare Advantage Plans.

Premera Blue Cross is a strong provider. There product offerings this year include a $0 premium HMO and there HMO-POS plan that gives you the freedom to see out of network providers without referral. Premera Blue Cross is a recognizable and trusted name in health insurance and in the Puget Sound.

HUMANA has remained a strong provider of coverage.  They will continue to offer a PPO, which means "no referrals".  They also offer a $0 premium plan, and the Humana network of doctors which was already large has grown quite a bit.  Humana also offers an Over the Counter and Transportation benefit, as well as a 4 star rating.

SoundPath offers excellent benefits and coverage.  They offer a variety of plan options including a $0 premium option.  They also offer an option with Generic Drug Coverage in the Coverage Gap.

Amerigroup Classic HMO is a plan option I have added to my portfolio this year.  It is a $0 premium option with excellent benefits.  It is worth taking a look at.

Regence Blue Shield offers its Blue Advantage HMO and the Regence Advantage PPO.  Regence offers an inclusive prescription drug formulary, and a large provider network.

Did you know that Group Health is the only company with a 5 star rating “the highest”? At Group Health they make medical care easy by having everything in one place.

Do you have friends or family members that receive Medicaid?  The best indicator is if they have a blue, State of Washington Services Card (Provider One), in addition to there Medicare ID card.  Molina and Amerigroup are excellent choices for people who receive both Medicare and Medicaid.  These plan offer benefits that make them very attractive.

Most of these plans include the famous Silver Sneakers program which gives you a health club membership to places like 24 Hour fitness, LA Fitness, and many more.  This and many other benefits are offered at no additional cost.  That’s why they call it Medicare Advantage.

For those of you that prefer a Medicare Supplement, like the popular Plan F Medicare supplement (you like the idea of paying nothing when you see the doctor) Regence & Premera remains an excellent choices.

Since I am a broker for these plans I can assist you in obtaining the coverage that is best for you.

This year, I would like to ask you for a favor.  Would you please share my name with 3 of your friends or family members that would like some help figuring out there Medicare options?  They can call me at 206-227-6677 or send an email jr@allstarfinancialinsurance.com .
