5th Annual Tony Awards
The 5th Annual Tony Awards were held on March 25, 1951 at the Waldorf-Astoria Grand Ballroom and broadcast on radio station WOR and the Mutual Network. The Master of Ceremonies was James Sauter and the presenters were Mrs. Martin Beck and Ilka Chase.

The Awards were dominated by 2 plays.   

The Rose Tattoo by Tennessee Williams. Wining Tony’s for Best Play, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress. 
&
Guys and Dolls. Music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Winning Tony’s for Best Musical, Actor-Musical, & Supporting Actress – Musical.
