Mel Ott and Jimmie Foxx elected to Baseball Hall of Fame
The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) inducted Jimmie Foxx and Mel Ott into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Jan 1951.

Jimmie Foxx played 20 seasons for the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies. He hit 30 or more home runs in 12 consecutive seasons and drove in more than 100 runs in 13 consecutive years.  Foxx was the second player in MLB history to hit 500 career home runs, after Babe Ruth.

Mel Ott played as a right fielder for the New York Giants, from 1926 through 1947.  He was an All-Star for eleven consecutive seasons, and was the first National League player to hit 500 home runs.
