(ROC) since 2008; was born in Kowloon, British
Hong Kong
The ROC was founded on 1 January 1912, to govern all of
China. As a consequence of World War II and the Chinese
Civil War, however, the ROC lost control of mainland
China to the Chinese Communist Party which established
the People's Republic of China, while the government of the Republic of China
relocated to Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu
and other islands, with the national capital relocated to Taipei.
