The
Hazel Scott Show
The Hazel Scott Show
made its debut on the DuMont Television Network, becoming the
first television program to be hosted by an African-American woman. Singer Hazel
Scott appeared live on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7:45 pm
to 8:00 pm Eastern Time on DuMont stations.
Trinidad-born
Hazel Scott was described as a "novelty on the entertainment scene",
and the series was well received by critics. Variety wrote: "Hazel Scott has a neat
little show in this modest package. [The] most engaging element [...] is the
Scott personality, which is dignified, yet relaxed, and versatile."
