Medicare Open Enrollment

The 2015 Medicare Annual Election Period begins October 15 and runs until December 7.  This is the time of year to make changes to your Medicare Advantage or Medicare Prescription Drug insurance plans.  Medicare is available to people age 65 or older and certain people receiving social security disability insurance.

This year I am very excited.  My new and improved website is more functional.    You now have the ability to shop and compare plans on my site.  Please take a test drive; I think you will like it.  www.ALLSTARFinancialInsurance.com

There will be many changes in 2015.  Many plans have changed benefits. Some have been discontinued.  Rates have changed (the UnitedHealthcare AARP plans has increased its premium) and many doctor's offices have changed which plans they will accept.  So now is a good time to review your coverage.

Premera Blue Cross is a strong provider. They offer 4 plan choices including a $0 premium option.  Premera plans do not have a prescription drug deductible.  Blue Cross is a recognizable and trusted name in health insurance.

HUMANA has remained a strong provider of coverage.  They are one of the few companies that offer a PPO, which means "no referrals".  They also offer a $0 premium plan, and the Humana network of doctors which was already large has grown quite a bit.  Humana also offers an Over the Counter and Transportation benefit, as well as a 4 star rating.

This year I have added a couple of programs to my list of companies.

SoundPath offers 4 plans choices including a $0 premium option.  They also offer an option with Generic Drug Coverage in the Coverage Gap.

Molina is an excellent choice for people who receive both Medicare and Medicaid.  Molina offer additional benefits that make it very attractive.

Regence Blue Shield offers its Blue Advantage HMO and the Regence Advantage PPO.  Regence offers an inclusive prescription drug formulary, and a large provider network.

Did you know that Group Health is the only company with a 5 star rating “the highest”? At Group Health they make medical care easy by having everything in one place.   I find them very efficient and effective.   Group Health has also reduced the premium for many of its plans.

All of these plans include the famous Silver Sneakers program which gives you a health club membership to places like 24 Hour fitness, the YMCA, and many more.  This, and many other benefits are offered at no additional cost.  That’s why they call it Medicare Advantage.

For those of you that prefer a Medicare Supplement, like the popular Plan F Medicare supplement (you like the idea of paying nothing when you see the doctor) Premera remains an excellent choice, but Regence has reduced its rates and is very close.

Since I am a broker for these plans I can assist you in obtaining the coverage that is best for you.
